A junior at Keys High School, Chase Jones has had to battle to get back on the golf course following a setback that caused him to miss an entire year.

With the 2025 spring season in full swing, Jones is performing at the highest level.

Jones was off course during his sophomore year, recovering after patella surgery.

“The surgery was definitely a setback for me but just going out and playing and practicing helped me a lot,” said Jones, who has been playing golf since the age of 7.

Jones strung together back-to-back tournament titles in mid-April at the Stigler and Wagoner Invitational tournaments.

“Making a full recovery and winning two back to back tournaments have been big achievements of mine,” he said. “I’ve also qualified for US Worlds.”

Rickie Fowler and his dad have been two of the biggest influences for Jones.

“My dad has taught me everything and he’s the one that got me into golf. Rickie went to OSU and that’s a dream school to golf at for me, and he has had an incredible PGA career,” said Jones, who says his putting and distance off the tee are his biggest strengths, and feels he’s improved the most in putting and chipping over his prep career.

Jones, who shot a career-best round of 69 at Bailey Golf Ranch Golf Club in 2022, has qualified for the Junior PGA Championships during his career.

“I came close to winning the whole thing with a great group of people,” he said.

Jones, who also enjoys playing basketball, fishing and hunting, hopes to continue his golf career at the next level.

“I want to continue with golf in college, but if that doesn’t work hopefully I can get a job in pipeline welding,” he said.
